Tape Gradings Explained here
review by DINO EVERETT
Notes:
The first of many times the band would play the Riviera Theatre in Chicago,
and one of the few times you hear Wobble talk.
Review:
There seems to be some modulation, almost a phasing effect which unfortunately
does take a little bit away from the enjoyment of the tape. There is
a tiny cut before and after 'Attack', but it doesn't sound like anything
is lost. I like the way 'Poptones' just sort of falls apart, I love
the looseness of the gigs on this tour, but I wonder why there seems
to be very little audible interaction with Johnny and the crowd on this
particular one. There is however a funny bit where Wobble tells the
crowd to wrap the dollar bills around silver so they can throw it to
the stage.
The end of 'Death Disco' is clipped and goes right into the beginning of 'Memories'. There are some other weird clips on the beginning of 'Public Image', which is a shame and the modulation picks up quite a bit on that track. Overall as with most of this tour it is an important gig, but there are better ones from 1980 to listen to.
